When people ask me where the name MargaretMay comes from, I always smile. MargaretMay was my grandmother—a strong, feisty, and fiercely independent Somerset farmer's wife. Long before artisan craft markets became trendy, she was running several small rural enterprises herself.

When I finished art school in Bristol and embarked on travels, she was endlessly curious and supportive. In her childhood and through the war years on the farm, soap making was a practical, cherished domestic rhythm. She understood the value of making things properly by hand, with simple pure ingredients and zero waste.

Every single bar we pour in our Bristol kitchen honours that practical wisdom. We choose coconut oil, golden beeswax, and vitamin E because they work, not because of marketing fads. When you wash with our soap, you're holding a lineage of Somerset farm craft brought into the modern home.
